IKEA Review & Purchasing Appointments
information on this page highlights how to do this, how to prepare for these appointments and what to expect.
Reviewing your design
To review your design, LWDA advises that you book a planning appointment at your preferred IKEA store. Whilst you already have a plan made, booking this appointment allows you to have one-on-one time with an IKEA kitchen specialist. Whilst you are welcome to visit the store without an appointment, you are not guaranteed to have a staff member available to assist you with any questions you may have, particularly on weekends or public holidays.
To book a review appointment, please visit the planning and consultations services page of their website and follow the relevant steps to book a planning appointment.
For the best possible experience, we suggest booking an in-store appointment rather than a virtual appointment.
In preparation for your review appointment:
1). Ensure that you have a copy of your design saved to the IKEA kitchen planning software. This is crucial, as it will allow the IKEA specialist in store to easily access your design. Further to that, we recommend bringing a printed hard-copy or a fully-charged device with the PDF of the design with you.
2). Write down and bring with you any questions you may have, or products you would like to see in their showroom. Your review appointment only 1.5hrs long and there will be a lot of information and details to cover, so coming prepared is recommended.
What you should confirm at your review appointment:
- Door and drawer front finish – (Matte? High-gloss? Integrated handles?)
- Drawer type – (Standard soft-close or push-to-open?)
- Handles – (IKEA handles? Externally sourced handles?)
- Benchtops – (IKEA laminate, timber veneer or stone? An externally sourced material?)
- Sinks and taps – (IKEA sinks and taps? Externally sourced?)
- Appliances – (IKEA appliances? Externally sourced?)
- Loose Interiors – (Cutlery trays? Utensil trays? Integrated bin solutions? etc).
- Stock availability of your selected finish.
- Delivery lead times and costs.
Top tip!
Before you conclude your appointment, purchase a 40x10cm drawer front (or smallest available drawer front size) of the IKEA door finish you plan to purchase. This provides you with a have sample of the finish which will help to give you an idea of what the finish will look like in your property. This sample can then be used to help with further design choices such as benchtop, splashback, flooring and cabinetry hardware selection.
Booking your purchase appointment
Following your review appointment, the final step is to book your purchase appointment and organise delivery of your order to your property.
LWDA recommends that you book this purchasing appointment once you have a confirmed installation date. From this date, you can work backwards to ensure you receive the products in time for your scheduled installation.
To ensure the products arrive in time for your installation:
- Book your purchase appointment 8-10 weeks before your installation.
- Book your delivery so that your products arrive at least one week before your installation.
- Due to an increased demand for delivery services, we have experienced instances where IKEA’s delivery provider has cancelled deliveries at the last minute. Thus, having your goods delivered at least one week in advance covers you from any delays occurring with your renovation process.
Please Note: Failure to have the required items delivered in time for your scheduled installation will result in delays to your installation, and a rescheduling fee of $300.00.
To book a purchase appointment, please visit the planning and consultations services page of their website and follow the relevant steps to book a purchase appointment: https://www.ikea.com/au/en/customer-service/services/planning-consultation/
Again, for the best possible experience, we suggest booking an in-store appointment rather than a virtual appointment.
