The installation process, from start to finish
In preparation for your installation
Asbestos:
If your property was built or renovated between the 1930’s – 1980’s, we would strongly recommend organising an asbestos testing appointment and
removal (if required) for your property. Depending on the age of your property, asbestos can be lurking in prominent areas within kitchens and
laundries such as behind tiled splashbacks, underneath lino or tiled flooring and even used as wall sheeting for properties that have lean-tos.
Please note: If asbestos is identified during any stage of the installation process, work will cease immediately until all present asbestos is removed
and disposed of professionally. This will result in lengthy delays to your installation and a $300.00 rescheduling fee.
LWDA’s preferred licensed asbestos tester and removalist is Triple ABC. Please see their website and contact details below:

Delivery of your products:
Ordering and organising delivery of the products required for your installation is your responsibility. To ensure the products arrive in time for your
installation, LWDA recommends that you book delivery a minimum of one week before your scheduled installation. This covers you from any delays
occurring in the event your delivery does not show up in time for whatever reason.
Please note: Failure to have the required items delivered in time for your scheduled installation will result in lengthy delays, and a $300.00
rescheduling fee.
All items required for the installation of your new cabinets are to be located inside your property in a location as close to where they are to be
installed as possible. If you have had the items delivered into a garage or storage shed, all items will need to be moved into the house prior to
LWDA’s arrival.
Upon accepting your delivery, please do not try to organise or open the boxes of your products. Our installation team will do this on the day of your
installation, as we have our own organisation method.
In an ideal world, LWDA would prefer to install your cabinetry with 100% of the items required available for the installation. In this post-pandemic
reality, we understand that this may not be possible due to global supply chain issues. When finalising the purchase of your new cabinets, if some
items are not available in time for your installation, please get in touch with us to discuss which items these are. If most of the products required for
your installation are not available, (e.g: all of your door fronts, drawer fronts, cover panels and/or filler pieces) we will need to reschedule your
installation.
What to expect on the day of your installation
• Your kitchen plans will need to be present in the form of a hard copy so we are able to confirm details with you prior to commencement of work. You do not have to be present during installation, however we would appreciate that you are there for the first 45 minutes and contactable during the day.
• Removal of the existing kitchen cabinets will occur. This will usually include all cabinets, benchtops, splashback and existing appliances. Any requested items to be left need to be discussed with LWDA in the morning prior to work – e.g. Ovens and dishwashers.
• The removed items will be placed in an area dependant on which removal method you have opted for. Collection of the removed items and flat pack packaging will usually occur at the end of the installation day or the day after by LWDA’s preferred rubbish removal company.
• During the cabinet assembly process all new electrical and plumbing services will be roughed in and prepared by the licensed tradesperson ready for the new cabinets to be installed. These tradespeople usually leave once the rough in stage has been completed.
• At this point the new kitchen cabinets are ready for installation.
• If laminate, timber veneer or solid timber benchtops are being used, they will be cut and installed by LWDA. The sink and cooktop will need to present on site so the appropriate size cut outs can be made. The sink, cooktop and other appliances will need to be reconnected 24 hours after benchtop installation to allow silicone to dry.
• If custom-made laminate or stone benchtops are being installed, we aim to complete the bulk of the kitchen installation on the first day in order to allow you to have your mandatory check measure service completed by the stone mason or other bench top supplier.
• Depending on the size of the kitchen and what was able to be completed on the first day, there may be a return visit to finish off minor elements. This may include the installation of handles, bulkheads above wall cabinets and filler panels, etc. LWDA will communicate with you at the end of the day what work is outstanding.
